 New Passport
 A passport is issued for a period of 10 years. The application for a new passport has to be submitted in the prescribed form  anytime within one year of the expiry of the existing passport. In case the original passport was issued by the High Commission  of India, Kampala, the new passport may be issued three working days from the date of submission of fee provided the  application is complete in all respects. In cases where the original passport was issued by a passport authority other than the  High Commission of India, Kampala, the new passport will be issued on receipt of clearance from the concerned passport  issuing authority which takes time. Applicants whose passport was issued from a passport issuing authority other than the High  Commission of India, Kampala are advised to apply for a new passport well before the date of expiry of their existing passport to  ensure that processing their application is completed before the expiry of their existing passport.
 Following documents/papers are required to be submitted in this regard:

 i. Application Form No. EA(P) I duly filled in. ( download form EA(P)1 )
 ii.
Original passport, current passport and additional booklets, if any, issued subsequently.
 iii. Copies resident permit, work permit and operative pages of the passport.
 iv. Four latest passport sized photographs. One photograph to be pasted on the application form and signed across.
 v.
Prescribed fee in cash, payable after the application has been processed.

 Note : An applicant is required to come in person when he/she applies for renewal of his previous passport which was issued as  'FINAL'.

 New Passport for children/infants
 Following documents/papers are required for issue of a fresh passport for newborn children :
 i. Passports of both parents (Original with one set of photocopy)
 ii. Copies of parents' resident permit and work permit.
 iii. Marriage certificate of parents-original plus 1 copy.
 iv. Child's birth certificate-original plus 1 copy.

Four photographs of the child
 vi. Form No. EA(P)1 and citizenship registration form. ( download form EA(P)1 ) ( download registration form )
 vii. Fee as prescribed for passport and for Registration of Birth.

 Note :
 The child needs to be brought to the High Commission
 The validity of passport is five years for infants.

 It is necessary to register a child born of Indian parents outside India with the nearest Indian Mission. Either of the parents can  sign the application and give his/her own specimen signature in case of minor children/infants.
 Registration of birth is required to be done before the child attains the age of one year.

 Additional Booklet
 Following documents/papers are required for issue of additional booklet:
 i. Original passport, current passport and additional booklets, if any, issued subsequently.
 ii. Copies of applicant's resident permit, work permit and operative pages of the passport.
 iii. Three latest passport size photographs.
 iv. Form No. EA(P) 2 duly filled in One photograph to be pasted on the application form and signed across. ( download form   EA(P)2 )
 v. Prescribed Fee

 Duplicate Passport in lieu of Lost/Damaged Passport
 Following document/papers are required for issue of duplicate passport.
 i. Police report regarding the loss of passport.
 ii. Photocopy of the lost passport, if available. If photocopy is not available, number, date of issue and place of issue of the lost  passport should be furnished.
 iii. Eight photographs.
 iv. Form EA(P) 1 duly filled in. One photograph to be pasted on the application form and signed across. ( download form EA(P)1  v. Additional details form.
 vi. The prescribed fee, payable after completion of processing.
 Duplicate passport is issued only on receipt of confirmation/clearance from the issuing authority of the lost passport.

 Change of Name after Marriage
 Following documents/papers are required :
 i. Application form EAP(2) ( download form EA(P)2 )
 ii. Current passports of both husband and wife with photocopies.
 iii. Marriage certificate- Original plus one copy
 iv. Sworn affidavit to be signed by the wife ( download affidavit format )

 Emigration Check Not Required Endorsement
 Following categories of persons are eligible for Emigration Check Not Required endorsement on Passports:
  Persons going abroad in managerial capacity in Hotels, Restaurants, Tea Houses or other places of public resort, etc.,  possessing specialised Degrees in these fields- Original Degree with one self attested copy to be submitted with application.
  All Gazetted Government Servants.
  All Income-tax payers - Proof of assessment of Income Tax and actual payment of Income Tax for the last three years to be  submitted.
  All professional Degree holders, such as Doctors holding MBBS degrees or Degrees in Ayurved or Homeopathy, Accredited  Journalists, Engineers, Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Lecturers, Teachers, Scientists, Advocates etc.- Original  Degree with one self attested copy to be submitted.
  Spouses and dependent children of categories (2) to (4) mentioned above.
  All persons who have been staying abroad for more than three years (the period of three years could be either in one stretch or  broken) and spouses, and children of such persons.
  All Indian seafarers who hold Indian or foreign CDCs and are in possession of an offer of employment from Shipping companies  in India or abroad and Sea-Cadets.
  All holders of Diplomatic/Official Passports.
  Dependent children of parents whose passports are classified as ECNR. In the case of such children, ECNR classification is  restricted until they attain 24 years of age.
  Persons holding permanent Immigration Visas, such as in UK, USA and Australia.
  Persons with 10+2 qualification from a recognized Central/State Board or possessing higher degrees from recognized  Central/State Universities- Original Degree with one self attested copy to be submitted.
  Persons possessing two years' diploma from any institute recognized by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT(  or State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) or persons holding three years' diploma/equivalent degree from institutions like  polytechnics recognized by Central/State Governments- Original Diploma with one self attested copy to be submitted.
  Nurses possessing qualifications recognised under the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947- Original Degree/Diploma with one  self attested copy to be submitted.
  All persons above the age of 50 years.
  Persons possessing certificates of vocational training from Government/Government recognised institutions.
  Children below 18 years of age provided they are accompanied by any or both parents.

 Following documents/papers are required :
 i. Current passport.
 ii. Form EA(P) 2 duly filled in.( download form EA(P)2 )
 iii. One photograph to be affixed on the application and signed across.
 iv. Proof in support of claim to the categories mentioned above.
 v. Copy of resident permit and work permit.
 vi. Prescribed Fee.

 Police Clearance Certificate
 Following document/papers are required :
 i. Polioce clearance certificate from Ugandan Police.
 ii. Passport
 iii. Form EA(P) 2 duly filled in ( download form EA(P)2 ).
 iv. One photograph
 v. Prescribed Fee. The fee is payable after processing of the application which takes at least 4 weeks.

 Police Clearance Certificate is issued only on receipt of confirmation/clearance from the issuing authority of the applicant's  passport.

 Period of Rendering Passport/Misc. Services
 Passport services are rendered after three working days from the date of deposit of fee provided applications are complete in all  respects and reference to another passport issuing authority is not required. In cases of proven urgency, rendering of same day  services is considered on payment of additional fee of Ug. Shillings 70,000.

 Attestation of Documents
 Requirements in respect of General Affidavits/Birth Certificate etc. are as under:

 Document to be attested - original and one copy
 Photocopy of Indian passport and applicant's resident permit/work permit
 Prescribed Fee.

 Requirements in respect of General Power of Attorney are as under :
 Document to be attested - Original plus one copy.
 Photocopy of India passport and applicant's resident permit and work permit.

 Note :
 All original documents should be first attested by a Notary if these are required to be attested by this Consulate.
 Document submitted by foreign nationals/executed abroad are required to be attested by a local notary public before being  presented at the Consulate for attestation.
 Normally service is rendered on the next working day from the date of receipt of document/fee. Same day service is rendered on  payment of additional fee of Ug. Shillings 70,000..

 Attestation of Documents

 A. Requirements in respect of General Affidavits/Birth Certificate etc. are as under :

 i. Document to be attested - original and one copy
 ii. Photocopy of Indian passport, resident permit and work permit.
 iii. Fee-Ug. Shillings 20,000 per document.

 B. Requirements in respect of General Power of Attorney are as under :

 i. Document to be attested - Original plus one copy.
 ii. Photocopy of India passport, resident permit.
 iii. Fee-Ug. Shillings 40,000.

 The document is required to be signed at the Consulate in the presence of the Consular Officer. Care should be taken to avoid  cutting/overwriting, as such document may not be accepted by local authorities.

 Note :
 i. Document submitted by foreign nationals/executed abroad are required to be attested by a local notary public before being  presented at the Consulate for attestation.
 ii. Normally service is rendered on the same day provided the application for the service is received before 1200 hours..  Emergency service is rendered on payment of additional fee of Ug. Shillings 70,000.

 PIO card information
 PIO Card is issued to Persons of Indian Origin holding foreign passports except those who are citizens of Afghanistan,  Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
 PIO Card is issued for a period of 15 years. For children below 18 years of age, the PIO Card is issued for 5 years This Card  entitles the PIOs to a wide range of economic, financial, educational and cultural benefits as indicated below :

 i. No requirement of visa to visit India. However, the holder is required to carry his/her passport. The PIO Card shall be valid when  presented along with valid passport.
 ii. No requirement to register with the Foreigners Registration Officer if the continuous stay does not exceed 180 days. If  continuous stay exceeds 180 days, registration is required to be done within a period of 30 days of the expiry of 180 days.
 iii. All PIOs including PIO Card holders shall enjoy parity with NRIs in respect of all facilities available to the latter in economic,  financial and educational fields except in matters relating to the acquisition of agricultural/plantation properties. No parity shall be  allowed in the sphere of political rights.

 Following documents/papers are required :
 i. Application form duly completed (Form to be collected from the Consulate)
 ii. 4 stamp size photographs.
 iii. Relevant document in support to the claim of Indian Origin (Indian passport held earlier, copy of birth certificate, passports of  parents )
 iv. Passport

 Fee - The fee for PIO card would be US $ 350.00 for the adult and US $ 180.00 for children up to 18 years.
 The PIO cards issued under the earlier scheme at US$ 1000 will continue to remain valid. The validity of such cards could be  extended for a further period of ten years i.e. 30 years in all, if so applied for by the card holder, without any extra cost.
