The
Indian Association is a registered NGO having its own constitution
and incorporated under the Trustees
Incorporation Act
(Cap.
147 of the Laws of
Uganda). It is a voluntary social organization
of Indians
residing in Uganda. Some of the
important aims and objectives of
the association, as spelt out in
the
constitution, are as under :
To promote social, educational, economic and cultural
welfare of Indians
residing
in Uganda
To promote, support and organize
such activities to encourage the
advancement
and propagation of Indian culture and
philosophy.
To promote and co-ordinate the
activities of Indian Communities
in
Uganda
with a view to advocating, safeguarding
and protecting the interest
and
general welfare and
betterment of Indians residing Uganda.
To support and foster cultural,
economic and social relationship among
the
people of India, To
support and foster cultural,
economic and
social relationship
among the people of India, between Ugandans
and
Indians of all communities residing
in Uganda. |

To establish institutions
of learning, sports, recreation, health and any other similar
activities in the interest of
the
association.
To co-ordinate and promote
the activities of other Indian community organizations.
To promote harmony and mutual
understanding amongst various organizations in the Republic
of Uganda.
To make representations
to the appropriate authorities to protect and safeguard the
interest and well being of
Indians
in
Uganda.
The
membership of the association is open to any Indian residing
Uganda who has attained the age of 18 years. |
